How would you like to greatly increase your chances of sticking to and reaching your goals? Staying motivated and being accountable are certainly part of it, but by far the best way to make sure you keep going and double your chances of success in Direct Sales is to find an accountability partner or ‘Battle Buddy’.
Think of this person as your ‘Partner in Crime’. You both have a similar goal and can work together to do whatever you need to do to get there. Maybe you already have a person like that in mind. If not, here are some ideas for finding your accountability buddy.
Start With Your Team
Start by sharing with your team mates what you’re planning to accomplish. Maybe you’re looking to hit a certain rank within your company. Perhaps it’s one part of the job you want to work on (follow up, increasing sales, recruiting etc). Most likely, someone will mention that they are trying to accomplish the same thing. If not, they may mention someone else in the team, or that they know within your company. If that happens, ask to be put in touch and see if the two of you hit it off.
If you can’t find the right partner through your own team, see what you can find out about local consultants in your area. Perhaps you already know some, or maybe you have an area specific Facebook group in which you can ask who is local to you. Networking with other consultants within your company, but not a part of your team, is always beneficial.
Spread Your Net Further Afield
Don’t feel like you’re limited to only local people. The Internet has made the world a much smaller place and having an accountability partner that lives a few counties/states or even countries away works just fine. Here are some options for finding a Battle Buddy who isn’t in your team or isn’t local to you.
Check Your Company Facebook Group for Consultants
Most companies tend to have a Facebook group for consultants, sometimes there are a few. Why not share your goal(s) in there and see if anyone else wants to partner up. You can always share any specific qualities you’re looking for in a partner. For example, I would always want to make sure my Battle Buddy was a positive and uplifting person, so I would stipulate being positive as something I was looking for. What would you love to see in a Battle Buddy?
Network with Fellow Network Marketers not in your Company
Here’s something that may work well for you. How about finding an accountability partner who isn’t in the same company as you? Finding another network marketer with a different company could be very beneficial to you. Yes, your specific goals may be a little different, but try to find someone with similar ideals as you. Perhaps the way they work their business is quite different to the way you work yours, and so you can share tips and suggestions with each other.
Start by looking for active and supportive online communities for Direct Sellers/Network Marketers. Strike up some conversations and when you find a person you click with, suggest you check in on each other via private message to see how you’re doing. If networking in this way seems a little intimidating right now then I have some great tips on how to make friends online I think you’ll love.
Why Having a Battle Buddy Will Help Your Success
Having the accountability partner will keep you motivated to reach your goals and do what you need to do even when you don’t feel like it. You can also share helpful tips, inspirational images or new ideas. Perhaps challenge each other to kick it up a notch and do even better.
No matter how you find your accountability partner and how the two of you interact, you will find he or she will become an invaluable part of your support system and a big part of your success.
